James – over the last several weeks, I sent you a series of letters with important and vital lessons for you to think about regarding photography.  As I stated at the outset, these are things I wish someone had shared with me when I first started.  I’m confident that if you focus and work on these things, you’ll become a great photographer.  Just to recap, let me summarize the lessons here.

  • Know Your Camera
  • Leave Auto Behind
  • Develop Your Eye
  • Consider Your Composition
  • Rule Of Thirds
  • Understand Proper Exposure
  • Find Your Niche
  • Establish Your Workflow
  • Post Production Proficiency
  • Tips & Tricks
  • Join A Community
  • Grow Your Equipment

Each of these are lessons that you’ll probably work on throughout your photography career.  Keep at it.  They take time, patience, trial and error, practice, and maturity.  And one final thing as I write this last letter.  Have fun and never lose sight of the creative joy of taking photos.  Leave a body of work that you’re proud of and can pass along for the next generation to enjoy.

Best wishes on your photography journey!
